Today Robert Irving Burns are one of the biggest independent practices in the West End with an exciting rebrand and Channel Four reality TV show in the works. Employing over 60 people from our prestigious modern offices our commercial, residential, and property management teams work together to provide a comprehensive and holistic service to our clients which is specific to their exact property requirements and needs.
Founded in 1962, RIB are celebrating our 60th anniversary this year.
A lot has changed since our three founders set up a small commercial property practice centred on the rag trade in Fitzrovia but one thing has remained constant – our commitment to our clients.
The company was set up by our honorary chairman Irving Howard Brecker at the tender age of 21 together with Robert Serling and Geoffrey Burns to become the company we all recognise today at Robert Irving Burns. RIB’s first office was located on Sicilian Avenue, our second office was on Tottenham Street where we were given a floor free of charge in exchange for letting and managing the rest of the building. After putting an advert in the Evening Standard, RIB were able to let the entire building within a few hours and there was even a queue around the corner! Robert Irving Burns’ third office was in Great Portland Street as, at the time, Great Portland Estates were RIB’s biggest client. We have been located on Margaret Street for over 30 years and moved a few doors down from our previous offices to our current space at Number 19 in 2021.
Our most recent addition and a new service line for us is Super Prime residential with chimes well with our commercial investment department for high net worth individuals. We now have one of the most prominent superprime residential property departments in the UK, selling some of the finest and most luxurious. This excellent reputation led to us being the subject of a new Channel Four show called Selling Super prime which will air in September. Many of our other teams have also expanded rapidly, with our Commercial Acquisitions Department trebling in size over the past four years. This is due to our extensive relationships and expert knowledge of the market built up over our decades of property experience coupled with our reputation for integrity.
Much has changed since those heady years in the 1960s but one thing has remained consistent: The level of service which we provide to our clients old and new and the relationships we have built across the Prime Property Market which have stood the test of time.
